Congratulations to our partner UP Kalilayan Alumni Association for the successful Training in Obstetric Emergencies conducted im Lucena City, Quezon Province this August 28-29, 2025.

Thank you to Dra. Lorelie Garcia, Maria Cristina Limos Antonio-Dayapan and PHO Team for their efficiency in organizing this Workshop – Training in Obstetric Emergencies, aimed to equip our health workers in district hospitals and RHU province-wide with skills and confidence in managing cases like severe bleeding after birth, baby shoulders stuck at birth, imminent vaginal breech delivery, and newborn needing resuscitation.. secondarily aiming to help reduce the current high maternal and neonatal mortality rate in the province (110 per 100,000 compared to Australia’s 8 per 100,000 maternal mortality rate).

Thank you to our assistant local trainers: @hazel tan, Macristina Jaca, @michelle coralde, sherry mae hidalgo and Dr. Mavel Veloso for helping in the delivery of the training. I couldn’t have done without you!  Thank you to your department heads for letting you help.

Thank you UP Kalilayan Alumni Association President Vizen Joyas and Ems Ocado for the tremendous support  and most importantly to Dr. Grace Maano for taking the time to teach the participants; you have done a fantastic service to the people of Quezon with this initiative  

Thank you to all 40 participants coming from as far as Polillo, Panukulan, Alabat Quezon for your enthusiasm in learning and evidence of improved knowledge (pre-test and post test)  so kahit napaos ako, it was all worth it! 

Mabuhay ang Quezon!!!  Watch this space as we craft another province-wide project in the making….
