PAMAG conducted its Annual Dr. Armando Dijamco Memorial Lecture at the scenic Evergreen Lakeside Resort in Stone Mountain, GA last Sept. 9, 2023. Our distinguished speakers were Dr. May Luz Bullecer from Athens, GA and Dr. Sheryl Caberto from Atlanta, GA. Dr. Bullecer gave a lecture on Aging Gracefully: Topic on Common Geriatric Syndromes. Dr. Caberto gave a lecture on SGLT2 Inhibitors Drugs: CKD at a Snail’s Pace.
The PAMAG dinner GALA was held that night at the Rotunda in the Evergreen Lakeside Resort where members, family and friends celebrated being together once more and looking back on the year’s accomplishments. The Keynote Speaker was State Rep. Marvin Lim (rep for district 98). He was born in the Philippines and migrated as a child and has become a lawyer and an advocate for the disadvantaged.
PAMAG President Dr. Romy Moriles gave the 2023 Presidential Awards to the following:
Dr. Marilyn and Dr. Paul Beltran for spearheading this year’s Juanito King Foundation Medical-Dental Mission (Feb 2023) in Asturias, Cebu, Philippines. They also spearheaded PAMAG Disaster Relief Efforts in Oroquieta after a devastating flood hit the area earlier this year. PAMAG donated immediate relief goods, a little cash for families to buy necessary items and rebuilt several homes in the area that has been blessed recently.
Dr. Cristine Villena Amurao for being the reliable secretary-treasurer and all around mover, donor and catalyst for many of PAMAG’s projects.
Venus Soriano, Past PNAGA president , past Kalayaan Committee president, past FilAM president and more for being always willing to go out of her way to help the FilAm community and the medical community. She has participated in our medical mission and in youth/senior outreach.
Chato Cabrera, the ever reliable medical missionaire extraordinaire and linchpin of the surgical team of our Medical-Surgical medical missions. She has been instrumental in the success of our missions and has tirelessly collected items to donate to the places PAMAG have served in the previous missions.
The successful event was attended by stalwart members and families and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Sam Torres (and his lovely wife) for agreeing to be the emcee for the night. Special thanks as well to the beautiful and talented Mayette Bayani who rendered songs in Tagalog, Spanish and English.
