Dear FAANEGA members,
Drs. Halbert and Livia Capuy are very pleased to report a very successful completion of the PAMAG Disaster Relief Fund donation of a fully furnished school building benefiting victims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. FAANEGA’s contribution and help was an integral part of this effort.
They recently returned from a short trip from the Philippines for the turn over ceremony. On Oct. 20, 2014, a mass and blessing of the PAMAG sponsored school building was attended by District Supervisor Dr. Rosario Buena, Principal Marilyn Petilla, Parent Teacher Association members, students, teachers and school officials.
A tearful and grateful community serenaded us with folk dances, songs, and speeches. All donations are well spent and we will continue to provide needed school books, computers and school supplies.
The children are also so excited and can’t wait to receive more of the The American Heritage Children’s dictionary donated by PAMAG members as a reference dictionary for each classroom. We are hoping for more of dictionary donations so all other children in the school district can benefit. This is under our new Books for the Barrios Campaign approved by the PAMAG membership and is spearheaded by Dr. Halbert Capuy, Scholarship Committee chairman.
Here is a list of what the PAMAG Disaster Relief Fund donated to the Sta. Fe Central School, Leyte Republic of the Philippines:
1. Fully completed 1 unit 2 classroom building complete with 2 bathrooms with 100 pupil capacity
2. 100 pieces of students study desks
3. 2 sets of teachers’ desk and chairs
4. Blackboards
5. 2 sets of wall electric fans.
Your donation is lasting and is now enjoyed by current students and will be used by the future generations of students.
Once again, we thank you for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Dr. Halbert and Livia Capuy
