The Philippine American Medical Association of Georgia (PAMAG), together with the Santa Rosa LGU, Santa Rosa Community Health Office District 1 successfully conducted the 2026 Medical-Surgical and Dental Mission at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex from March 2-4, 2026.

A total of 881 persons came through the doors for medical consultations, dental fluoride treatment and surgical consultations and minor surgical procedures. In addition, Reading Glasses and ophthalmological consultations were offered to those in need of those services. Individuals availed of more than one service during their time at the mission.
On March 2, 2026, the first day of the mission, over one hundred children were given fluoride treatments and a dental hygiene kit. Adults were also given a chance to have dental consultations
A total of 478 individuals were given reading glasses during the course of 3 days. According to our volunteer, “Working in the eyeglasses department is a real eye opener. We had a standard issue style and color (black). While some patients are satisfied with this, others have been asking for more variety in terms of color and style. Unfortunately we encountered patients insisting on getting reading glasses despite an advanced cataract that requires surgery.” Patients were advised appropriately and was sent to see the volunteer ophthalmologist for a consult.
Many patients eagerly availed of the offered minor surgical consult and surgery. More than 50 minor surgeries were conducted and more had to be turned away because some needed general anesthesia, others needed more than a minor surgery and more had waited but just couldn’t be accommodated anymore due to time constraints.

PAMAG offered a scientific lecture March 4, 2026 at Seda Nuvali for the medical mission volunteers. The Dr. Armando Dijamco Scientific Lecture Series featured two distinguished guest speakers. Dr. Romeo Moriles, PAMAG’s former president and practicing pediatrician in Georgia talked about Pediatric Updates. Dr. Ma. Socorro WeeSit-Toledo, a fellow of the Philippine Dermatological Society, a practicing dermatologist for more than 30 years and an associate professor of the De La Salle University Dermatology Department, talked about Psoriasis: Practical Pearls. Both speakers were engaging and were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by the audience.

After the mission, PAMAG’s volunteer group had a much deserved rest and toured the Cuartel de Santo Domingo in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The Cuartel is a well preserved Spanish garrison erected in 1850 as an outpost to protect friar lands of the Dominican order against the “tulisan”. The group managed to visit Tagaytay and have lunch at Balay Dako with the sweeping views of Taal Volcano.
